Pentas grow as herbaceous perennials in South Florida; they bloom most of the year with small star-shaped flowers and are available in many colors. Pentas require regular pruning to remain full; it is recommended to prune after a bloom cycle to encourage new flower development and thick growth. Water Pentas regularly as Pentas are quick to wilt when lacking adequate water; it is also advisable to fertilize 3 times a year with a balanced fertilizer to help keep plants vibrant and healthy. Pentas look great in flower beds and containers, and can live for 3 years or more when taken care of.
