Crossandra ‘marmalade’ is the most popular south Florida variety and features waxy, green oblong-shaped leaves and often provides gardens with bursts of peachy orange blooms throughout the year though more prevalent Spring through Fall. Crossandra thrives in South Florida’s humid climate and will tolerate full sun to an extent but benefits significantly from being situated in a part-shaded area (morning sun and afternoon shade is perfect). Crossandra requires frequent watering and prefers moisture-retaining soil. Fertilize with a high-quality granular fertilizer as needed (usually every 3 months) when planted outdoors.
