Firecracker (Russelia Equisetiformis)

Firecracker grows as a mound with cascading foliage. Firecracker gets its name from the tubular red/white firework like blooms it produces which are known to attract butterflies. Firecracker prefers full sun but will tolerate part sun also, though it will produce fewer blooms. Firecracker grows well in most free draining soils, and benefits from an application of balanced slow-release granular fertilizer twice per year (Spring and fall). Firecracker is moderatly salt tolerant and can be used in a mixed planting bed, container, filler for corner, arching over a retaining wall etc.
